On Saturday evening, me and The Dad went out. Without children. For a grown-up meal. It was very nice.
It was my birthday on Sunday but it wasn't a birthday outing - it was just the first night we could do considering The Dad's work pattern and the babysitters' (my mum and dad) availability. Yep, Happy Birthday to me. *sigh*
We were invited to Chiquitos to try out their new menu (you can see it here), but as we've never been to Chiquitos before, everything was new to us!
We were impressed with the interior of the restaurant as the outside is a bit generic looking and shed-like. We were seated quite quickly, and it had been easy to make a reservation (once I'd actually rang the correct place and not the one at the other end of town. Sorry, staff of Chiquitos).
We were taking advantage of having a meal without children with us, so it had to be the full three courses.
For a starter I had a large glass of wine (naturally), and then I had potato skins with pulled pork and cheese filling. They were lovely. The Dad had prawn skewers and he said they were very nice. It was brought out quite quickly and we were pleasantly surprised.
Then, after not long a wait at all, we had our mains. I had chicken fajitas. The chicken came out sizzling on a plate thing, and I had a side plate with salsa, cheese, and guacamole on. And four wraps, which was plenty. Very, very nice.
The Dad, being the greedy sod that he is, had the full works - steak, chips, corn. We also had a side of our favourite thing - onion rings.
Yummy - all gone!!
You'd think after all that, we wouldn't have room for dessert, and you'd be right. But we had one anyway. We had a sharing platter of churros, chocolate brownie and strawberries, with ice-cream and chocolate sauce. Just perfect for topping the meal off.
We were very impressed with Chiquitos at Kingswood in Hull. We had never been before and will definitely be returning in the future.
Disclosure - for this review we were given vouchers towards the cost of the meal

This looks amazing! I haven't had fajitas in ages and now I feel a craving coming on! :)
ReplyDeleteYum. I love Chiquitos, but haven't been for absolutely ages. I was thinking of going for my birthday next month... might just have to pay it a visit! :-D
